Hellion™ Series Rifles
The Springfield Armory Hellion answers the call for superior ballistic performance in a short, adaptable platform. Featuring a “bullpup” configuration where the action is located behind the trigger, the Hellion features an extremely short and handy overall length while still offering 16”, 18” and 20” barrel lengths. The Hellion sports ambidextrous controls that work in concert with a reversible case ejection system, allowing it to be easily fired from either shoulder. The result? A 5.56mm that combines portability with performance.
BULLPUP DESIGN
Unlike a traditional long gun, the bullpup system moves the action and the magazine back behind the trigger into the normally unused buttstock area. By doing this, it reduces the overall length drastically, while still allowing you to have a barrel long enough to retain effective downrange performance.
MILITARY PEDIGREE
Based on the internationally proven VHS-2 bullpup, which has been employed by the Croatian armed forces in demanding environments ranging from Iraq to Africa and beyond, the Springfield Armory Hellion offers American shooters a semi-automatic 5.56mm version of this highly capable firearm.
NEW 18-INCH & 20-INCH MODELS
These newly released variants feature extended 18” and 20” barrels, resulting in a 5.56mm that still offers the compact handling characteristics of a bullpup, but with enhanced velocity and downrange performance. In addition, the 20”-barreled version features an overall configuration similar to that of the Croatian VHS-D2, a designated marksman version of the VHS-2. The 20” Hellion is outfitted with a distinctive ribbed forward section of barrel for enhanced cooling as well as an integrated bayonet lug.
HAMMER FORGED BARREL
The Hellion bullpup houses a hammer forged 16″ barrel chambered in 5.56, giving the rifle a high performance precision barrel for maximum accuracy. With a 1:7″ rate of twist and a rugged Melonite® coating, the Hellion delivers impressive ballistics and amazing downrange performance for its compact size.
